2-day Intro to HVAC for High Schoolers (hands-on) - Melrose Park, IL

Class meets MONDAY (June 29) & WEDNESDAY (July 1)

Parental Waiver: By registering my teenager for this hands-on course, I acknowledge that they will be working with electricity, natural gas, refrigerant, and mechanical devices. Safety protocols will be followed and students will be supervised, but there is still a risk of injury.

The focus of this class is for students to learn a little about the heating and air conditioning industry, some of the equipment used, and to have some fun learning how to braze with a torch.
Class size is limited to 20 students due to the hands-on nature. Much of the time will be spent in our live-fire lab. Please wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Lunch is provided.

OVERVIEW:This training course provides the participants with an overview of Carrier/Bryant 37MU and Heil/Day&Night D5CU Crossover units which allow the usage of a horizontal discharge mini-split inverter with a standard furnace or air handler fan coil. The course will include installation requirements, operating characteristics and a general overview of service and troubleshooting procedures.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:The target audience includes HVAC technicians and installers. Attendees should have a general understanding of air conditioning systems, refrigerants, installation and service procedures.
REQUIRED TOOLS: electrical meter with micro-leads and basic hand-tools
OUTLINE:
- Introduction of product (including models, capacities, voltages, etc.)
- Application of R-454B refrigerant
- Installation requirements and procedures
- Operating characteristics
- Fault codes
- Servicing and Diagnostic procedures
- Refrigerant piping lengths and charging procedures
- Installation wiring (standard thermostat or communicating)
