2-day Intro to HVAC for High Schoolers (hands-on) - North Aurora, IL

Parental Waiver: By registering my teenager for this hands-on course, I acknowledge that they will be working with electricity, natural gas, refrigerant, and mechanical devices.  Safety protocols will be followed and students will be supervised, but there is still a risk of injury.

The focus of this class is for students to learn a little about the heating and air conditioning industry, some of the equipment used, and to have some fun learning how to braze with a torch.

Class size is limited to 20 students due to the hands-on nature. Much of the time will be spent in our live-fire lab. Please wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Lunch is provided.

One of the most important tasks in maximizing efficiency and safety in heating appliances is to perform an accurate combustion analysis test. In this session, you will gain a better understanding of:

- What combustion analyzers do

- How to effectively use them on several types of heating appliances

- How to measure oxygen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and draft pressure

- How to improve efficiency, performance, and reliability of the heating system

 

If you are looking for a session loaded with a-ha moments, this is the one for you.

LIMITED - INVITE ONLY - LIMITED - INVITE ONLY - You must work for a Carrier/Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer (FAD) to register for this class.

This 3-day training course is only one portion of the requirements to become certified by Carrier or Bryant. There are also 4 online training modules, as well as as business requirements (signed agreement, insurance, brand loyalty, etc), and you must already be a Bryant or Carrier FAD.

Included: Handheld Midea/Carrier Ductless Diagnostic Service Tool ($450 value) and Lunch for 3 days

 

Ductless & Crossover Foundations:Installation & Start-up

In this course, participants will learn about the proper application, installation, startup, and basic troubleshooting of Ductless and Crossover Solutions. After completing this course, the participants will be able to: 

- Demonstrate an understanding of DLS technology, equipment and application​

- Interpret and apply installation instructions and installation techniques

- Demonstrate and apply accepted DLS best practices​

- Perform DLS system start up and commissioning

- Evaluate existing installations to avoid problems 

REQUIRED TOOLS: torque wrench, R-410A/R-454B flaring tool, reemer, pipe cutter, 2 adjustable wrenches, electrical meter with micro-leads, and basic hand-tools

 

This classes qualifies for 24 "FAD Distributor" hours for the dealer and 16 NATE hours for the technician
